64% of Americans still believe AI cannot understand how emotions influence financial planning, according to BMO's Real Financial Progress Index. Yet they are turning to it anyway. Because when the alternative is no guidance at all, even imperfect guidance wins.

That is the dynamic financial institutions need to sit with. The problem is not that customers prefer AI over their bank. The problem is that their bank was not in the conversation to begin with. AI did not steal the relationship. The relationship was already unattended.
